Caring and Compassionate Pet Euthanasia

Euthanasia is something most people would rather not think about, unfortunately, pets become old and ill, and when they appear to be suffering, sometimes pet euthanasia is the most caring and compassionate thing a pet owner can do for their pet.

Understanding When It's Time to Say Goodbye

It can be difficult for pet owners to determine when it’s time to say goodbye to their beloved pets, especially if your pet has good days and bad days. If you are unsure as to whether it’s time to say goodbye, Brookside Veterinary Hospital can evaluate your pet’s health and answer your questions in order to help you make a decision.

1. Your Pet Is in Chronic Pain that Cannot Be Alleviated With Medication

2. Your Pet Has Stopped Eating and/or Lost Weight

3. Your Pet Has Chronic Vomiting and Diarrhea that Cannot Be Controlled

4. Your Pet’s Activity Levels Have Dropped

5. Your Pet Can No Longer Stand or Walk on His or Her Own

In-Office Pet Euthanasia

Many pet owners choose in-office pet euthanasia. However, they still want their pets to be comfortable for the journey and to help reduce pet anxiety, and Brookside Veterinary Hospital can help you make your pet’s final car ride more comfortable by providing you with a sedative that you can give to your pet prior to arriving at our veterinary office.

Once you arrive in our office, you will have the option of choosing how involved you wish to be in your pet’s final moments. If you wish to stay with your beloved dog or cat throughout their final moments, our team will escort you to a private room where you can say your goodbyes and hold your pet while he or she passes.

During the procedure, you have the option to give your pet a sedative to help calm anxiety & make them slightly sleepy then inject the medications that help your pet pass peacefully. Once your pet has passed, you will have the option to take your pet back home for burial, private cremation (ashes back), general cremation (ashes do not come back), or you can deliver your pet to a place where he or she can be cremated and you can retrieve the ashes at a later date.

The crematorium we use is Trusted Journey - Traverse City (https://www.trustedjourney.com...)
You will have a choice for a urn, ink paw print, ink nose print, clay paw print, hair keep sake, and more.

At-Home Pet Euthanasia

Unfortunately we do not provide at home euthanasia's through our office anymore but we do have a couple of wonderful recommendations to give.
